Artifact: BUILDING AN INTENTIONAL COACHING PROGRAM
What is this artifact?
My amazing coaching team presented to the Southeast Region Coaching Conference how we created an intentional coaching program, mostly through the support of Kim Cofino’s program, The Coach. We discussed needs assessments, themes, newsletters, and refinement.
Why does it demonstrate this stage of your coaching program?
This was my first year in my district, so I knew no one in the district (other than 2 coaches I was working with), and therefore, needed to build relationships. Luckily for me, 2 coaches were working with Kim to find clarity, implement consistency, and build community. This document shows the hard work our team collectively did over the last year with the support of Kim. While I wasn’t working with Kim at the time, I was able to reap the benefits of the information. I think I’m in a much better place as a coach because our coaching program has the important components in place.
Will this be an artifact you would like to refine during the course of the program?
We have signed up to present again in November at a statewide coaching conference and I’m sure we’ll refine slightly. We are already planning to meet with principals next week to help us refine our vision to best support teachers and administration. So yes, I’d like this to include a clear plan for bite-sized PD (monthly) and additional PD (longer). This is already in the works but can be added.
