We want to give you a peek inside our Coach Certificate & Mentorship Program. Coaches taking part in this academic-year-long journey have graciously given us permission to post some of their learning and reflections from the private coursework they are undertaking during this program. Where possible, we have shared the course and the action task to give context for the guest post.
The Topic: Learning Journey Video Reflection
The Task: Tell the story of your personal learning journey throughout The Coach

At the beginning of the program, I was hoping to improve my specific coaching skills in regards to instructional coaching instead of Life Coaching.
The milestones helped me reach my goal as they made me consider some key components to being a successful coach.
My biggest area of growth has been to resolve the issue between coaching conversations and actual instructional coaching cycles. Both have a place and serve different purposes.
I definitely have room to grow as a coach. Because I am not in an official coaching role, I don’t have much opportunity to use full coaching cycles with coachees. I’d like to explore this further when time allows.
Challenges were time. Being hired as a Deputy Principal completely dominated all of my time. I had to prioritize the tasks associated with my new role. Thankfully, coaching plays a part in this role.
The most impactful part of the program was having Kim coach me. She was amazing in helping me organize and strategize. She helped me to find ways to align what I was doing at school with part of ‘The Coach’- amongst many other things.
My next professional learning will focus on leadership, but coaching plays such an integral part in this.
