I’m really sad this year has wrapped up already! Engaging in the modules over the course of the year has been some of the most enriching professional development I have engaged with. And the fact that it spanned over a long enough period of time to learn, implement, reflect, refine and try again is part of the reason for that impact. Just like a coaching cycle, the time provided to really dig into the learning and practices is the reason I feel that it had such a significant impact on me.

I’m not yet where I’d like to be with my ‘bigger picture’ goal of having a coaching role added to our school, but I’ll keep at it. By continuing to engage in coaching cycles with the limited time that I have in my other role, I will gradually continue to plug away and being that obnoxious person who keeps saying “an instructional coach would be so beneficial for our staff”

The thrive model of coaching was so helpful to engage with, and the concepts are so transferrable to other contexts, I have found that I have been using them regularly in other conversations and planning meetings. Even when looking at our primary strategic plan for the year, our focus was on consistency (not adding anything new), Clarity (digging deeper into what we are already doing to gain a better understanding and so we are all on the same page), and Community (empowering our staff to put into practice the goals we have established because they have a deep connection to it)The year has gone by in a blink, so it was nice to create this Learning Journey Video Reflection to look back on it all and see the progress that has been made, no matter how slow 🙂
