Meet Jennifer

Jenn came to The Coach with many years experience in formal and informal leadership roles in education. When she joined The Coach she was in her first “official” instructional coaching role and excited to have the opportunity to focus solely on coaching. Her goal when she joined was to bring more intention and structure to coaching. She had already built trusting relationships with teachers, but she felt like she operating in a way that felt like I was chasing fires. She wanted clarity around what coaching is, how it works here, and how to build something that lasts – and that’s exactly what she accomplished!

She says…

The biggest area of growth for me has been shifting from “doing coaching” to leading it. Coaching is no longer just something that happens in conversations or cycles. It’s part of the culture we’re building. That took a mindset shift. I had to stop thinking about what I could manage alone and start thinking about what systems could support this work sustainably.

At the end of The Coach, all participants complete a Learning Journey Video Reflection…

Reflecting on her journey in The Coach, Jenn says…

Because the Coach aligned with the academic year almost perfectly, it was an incredible resource to have you to lean on as I was working through all of these pieces.  The resources were incredibly to lean on, but to have a sounding board so it didn’t feel like I was doing this alone, to have someone to talk me down or lift me up. It was the human side of the things but also the logistics of knowing if I need it I will find it in the Coach.

Jenn was recently featured on the #coachbetter podcast in a Case Study episode. These case study episodes are designed to share the story of a coach, and the development of their coaching program and practice in their unique setting. At the time of recording, Jenn had just graduated from The Coach and she was building the foundations of a sustainable coaching program for her current school. She says…

As an instructional leader, you are ensuring legacy pieces for the school beyond your tenure. As we went through the year, I was documenting things that worked, or tried, so anyone who stepped into the role would know what has been done & what works.

Ready to create a thriving coaching culture that improves student learning and builds belonging?

Come learn with me!

I help educators, instructional coaches, informal or positional leaders work together to create thriving coaching cultures that improve student learning and build belonging.

Coaching programs based on the Thrive Model, with clarity, consistency and community, can create time and space for educators to feel seen, heard, respected and valued for the experts that they are – creating a sustainable system of educator professional growth that ultimately improves student learning.

For this kind of coaching to thrive we need to focus on both the micro view of your coaching practice and the macro view of your coaching program, so while you’re developing your individual coaching practice you’re also intentionally developing a sustainable coaching culture.

If you’re ready to build this kind of coaching culture in your school community, join us for the Thrive Coaching Certificate program!
